Story

She watched the Flamenco dancer pirouette like a scarlet swan, bearing wooden castanets in her extended arms. A part of her wanted nothing more than to beg the dancer to take her into their fold and teach her the mystical charms of their art. But the holiday was ending and it was time to go back to reality, to the mundane world of chores and deadlines that she’d escaped, if only for a while. But as she packed the last of her suitcases, the caretaker of the little cottage she’d leased handed her two plain brown pods. He shook them gently and they rattled, just like the castanets that had ensnared her heart the night before. She slipped the pods in her pockets with a little grin, knowing that the music would still play on in her heart for many years after.
